Juicers & juicing

Auger & Pulp

Auger & Pulp is MadGrey LLC's juicer site, written for the first-time buyer starting a daily juice habit and finding that the numbers in this category either do not exist or cannot be traced back to anything. Its own description of the job is the plainest version of it: find the best juicer for what you actually juice.

What the site covers

The site is organised by mechanism and then by what goes into the machine, because that is the order the decision actually happens in. Three mechanism sections carry it — cold press and masticating, centrifugal, and citrus — and a fourth, juicers by produce, starts from the celery, kale, carrots or oranges a reader has in mind rather than from a spec sheet. Alongside those sit head-to-head comparisons, single-machine reviews, and guides to everything that is not a buying decision: starting out, cleaning, storing juice, and unjamming a machine. Cross-category roundups cover the bands and constraints people search by — under $100, under $200, under $300, best value, easiest to clean, highest yield, quietest, most compact, and gifts for someone who already juices.

The work the site does that the category mostly does not is normalisation. Every commercial page runs the same four criteria in the same order — yield, pulp, cleanup time, and price as a band rather than a figure — and every number carries a label saying where it came from: a manufacturer's claim, a published third-party test, an aggregate of published reviews, or not available. There is no fifth label, and "not available" appears often, because almost nobody in this category publishes juice yield, cleanup minutes or a decibel level; the site treats that absence as a finding rather than quietly filling the gap. It is equally direct about its limits: it has no test kitchen, no lab and no instruments and does not claim otherwise, it publishes no star ratings, review counts or testimonials, it prints price bands only because it holds no live price data, it makes no health or nutrition claims in either direction, and it will not repeat the unsourced yield percentages that circulate in juicer marketing because they could not be traced to any test.

That is the same arrangement MadGrey LLC runs on every site it operates. Auger & Pulp is free to read and funded by affiliate commission as a participant in the Amazon Associates program — if a reader buys through a link the retailer may pay a percentage, at no extra cost to them — and no payment, product or placement is accepted from a manufacturer in exchange for a recommendation or a ranking. Commission does not change the order of the picks; several of the site's top recommendations are the cheapest option in their category. The disclosure sits on the site itself rather than buried in a footer, every page carries a visible last-reviewed date that moves only when the content does, and factual corrections are dated on the page rather than edited in silently.

Coverage

  • Cold press and masticating juicers — vertical and horizontal augers, twin gear, how the mechanism works and what it costs to clean
  • Centrifugal juicers — the fast spinning basket, what it suits and the long-fibre produce no setting will fix
  • Citrus juicers — from a hand squeezer to a die-cast lever press, chosen by how much citrus actually gets squeezed
  • Juicers by produce — starting from celery, kale, carrots, apples or oranges rather than from the spec sheet
  • Comparisons and single-machine reviews, run on the same four criteria every time with a plain statement of who should not buy
  • Roundups by budget band, cleanup, yield, noise and footprint, plus guides to starting, cleaning, storing and unjamming

A reader gets yield, pulp, cleanup and price band in the same order on every page, each figure labelled with where it came from and "not available" printed where nobody publishes one.

How this site is funded

Auger & Pulp earns affiliate commissions on some links to retailers. Those commissions never influence which products are recommended or how they are ranked. The full affiliate disclosure sets out how it works across every site MadGrey LLC operates.
